Ellie was registered as Shibumi Electra, born in a litter of 6 on 22/06/2006.
She was a chocolate lynx oriental.
Her Mother was Shibumi Becrux (Becky) and her father Noccioletti Great Balls of Fire (known to his friends as Boof).
This was the best litter I ever breed. 3 of the kittens were outstanding and I had several requests for 2 of the boys to be sold as stud cats. Thank heavens that did not happen.
Ellie was the first kitten I ever sent to an owner outside of Auckland. Anne had contacted me looking specifically for a chocolate lynx kitten that was show quality. We talked several times on th phone and exchanged emails including pictures of the cats Anne currently owned. Eventually I agreed to let her go to Christchurch to live. When the cage arrived for her with its fleecy custom made lining and cover I knew she was going to someone who would take good care of her. As she grew we kept in touch and regular photos arrived
Eventually Ellie was shown in the Christchurch area with considerable success. In 2008 she reached the status of Gold Double Grand Premier and was the top Neuter/Spay of the Siamese/Oriental group in New Zealand. In 2009 she was shown less frequently but still enjoyed success in the show ring then at the end of September 2009 came the devastating News.
At the age of 3 years Ellie Died suddenly. As Anne described it to me she had been in fine form the night before flying around the house playing. When they got up in the morning she was sitting frothing at the mouth. She died in Annes arms before they could get her to the vet.
I am forever grateful that Anne did the right thing and arranged for a post mortem to be done on Ellie. The cause of death was Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Thus began my mission to eliminate this disease from our Siamese and Oriental cats.
I keep in touch with Anne. She now has 2 young lynx orientals to fill the gap Ellie left
